Everett, Prop. 1: Support effort for safer, better city

As a long-time resident of Everett, I am writing to express my strong support for the City of Everett’s Proposition 1. This important measure represents a critical investment in our community’s safety, well-being and future prosperity.

Having dedicated nearly 30 years of my life to public service and public safety, I understand the importance of having a robust support system for our first responders from all parts of city government. These services are supported by our property tax dollars; funds that have been greatly impacted over the years by the state’s levy cap and record high inflation. Proposition 1 allows the city to continue providing the core services that we have come to expect and appreciate as residents.

Proposition 1 also supports essential public safety needs. Our police and fire departments work tirelessly to protect us, often with limited resources. This measure will ensure they have the tools and facilities necessary to respond effectively to emergencies, keeping all of us safer. If this proposition passes, it will prevent significant cuts in 2025 that will impact us all in noticeable ways.

Proposition 1 also aims to protect our quality of life. By allocating funds to continue maintaining our roads, parks, libraries and facilities, we are making a commitment to the safety and health of our families and neighbors. These are things that impact our daily lives but also attracts businesses and visitors, boosting our local economy.

Investing in our community is investing in our future. By voting for Proposition 1, we are choosing to build a safer, more resilient Everett for ourselves and future generations. I urge my fellow residents to join me in supporting Proposition 1.
