After having read two letters on the charging station controversy on U.S. 2, I took writer No. 2’s advice and purchased a copy of “Physics for Dummies” and found it full of useful information.
I learned that today’s automobiles do not belch out CO2 as he stated, but instead emit carbon monoxide, a completely different substance. Humans emit CO2 every time we exhale, so I guess it could be stated that vegetarians are part of the problem because they eat the plants that turn CO2 back into oxygen through a process called “photosynthesis.”
To suggest that the auto industry is doing everything it can to reduce our carbon footprint is also naive. They are simply catering to a class of people to boost their profits and nothing more. Seems we are becoming a nation of sheep and will believe everything we hear and see in the media without doing our own research.
At least the two writers agree that U.S. 2 is a dangerous piece of road and something needs to be done before we increase traffic volume any further. Even writer No. 2 states that his knuckles turn white every time he occasionally drives it. Try it every day. I have been involved in two serious accidents on the highway, both caused by drivers in a hurry and not obeying traffic signs.
Oh yeah, I also learned in my new physics book that if you add more cars to a roadway, you increase the volume. Also overlooked was who is paying for the maintenance of these stations. We the taxpayers, that’s who.
I agree that these letters are becoming “entertaining.” Maybe Olympia will even take notice, but I doubt it.
