‘Made in USA’ would cost a lot more

We live in a global economy that now influences the cost of living in the U.S. For example, we had to replace a simple kitchen faucet; the cost including tax and labor was $1,000, which we are

still reeling from. This was almost as much as our new OLED television, which we bought recently. Based on this, the same TV manufactured in the U.S. would cost $10,000 or more. This comparison applies to thousands of consumer items we enjoy and can afford because of them being made abroad.

American manufacturers can no longer compete in this market.

Restricting imports and returning to a “made in the U.S.” economy would take years of retooling and training; and years to rebalance cost versus wages.
