When I voted for Barack Obama, I voted for change. For each person change could mean something different, but for me it means the United States has an opportunity to get into the business of humanitarianism. These past eight years with the Bush administration in office have been the worst eight years in my life as I have watched our allies not only turn against America, but learn to hate us. This administration has committed crimes against humanity, blatantly disregarded the Geneva Conventions, defied habeas corpus and many, many other unconstitutional acts.
To exculpate this administration not only conveys to the world that leaders are above the law, but think what it conveys to each law-abiding American. Tell me why any of us are held accountable for murder, torture, rape and all of the other laws we abide by when our own leaders are exempt from those very laws?
Adolph Hitler and Saddam Hussein were held accountable, charged with crimes against humanity before The Hague. Why shouldn’t the Bush administration be?
Let the American people know that Barack Obama is a man of his word, bringing the change we need for the American people and the people of the world, by holding the Bush administration accountable. Do it for all of us.
