I’ve tried watching some of Donald Trump’s recent public appearances, but I just can’t stand the endless lies and aspersions. He doesn’t dodge and weave questions; he ignores them and goes off on a rampage of his own choosing. And then doesn’t just stretch the truth, but offhandedly spouts falsehoods with absolutely no regard for civility or statistics.
As for his demeanor, let me just say this about how I assessed three Republican presidents presenting themselves on the international stage:
I didn’t always agree with Ronald Regan, but he could make me feel proud of our country.
A terribly uninformed George W.Bush made me feel apologetic for our country.
The egocentric Donald Trump makes me feel ashamed of our country.
I still find it hard to believe that almost half of us voted for him in 2016 (and again in 2020).
