Like Will Rogers, all I know is what I read in the papers.
I recall that on Oct. 7, 2023, Jewish people in Israel hid in their safe rooms until the terrorists came in and got them. I thought then that, as a people who are subject to military service on short notice, and living in close proximity to people who wish them dead, they would have had ready access to firearms. But, to my amazement, such was not the case.
It is for the possibility of such occasions that I approve of the Second Amendment. But like all other constitutional rights, the right to bear arms is not absolute. A recent writer to your paper stated “A single mass murder does not justify taking away all guns.”
I don’t disagree with that, but it seems to me that a predictable steady diet of mass murders would justify denying some guns to some people.
