HILLSBORO, Ore. — Jhoan Duran allowed just one hit over five innings, leading the Hillsboro Hops to a 3-0 victory over the Everett AquaSox in a Northwest League game Sunday.
It marked the first time the AquaSox have been shut out this season, and the first time the Hops have shut out an opponent this year.
Duran (2-1) picked up the win. He struck out two and walked three.
Hillsboro scored all the runs it needed in the first inning on a two-run double by Drew Ellis. Bryan Araiza added a solo home run in the sixth off Everett’s Jose Santiago.
Everett managed just two hits in the game — singles by Eugene Helder and Juan Camacho.
Everett’s starting pitcher, Randy Bell (0-1), went two innings. He allowed two runs and four hits, and struck out three.
