Taniela Tupou is getting another shot at the NFL.
The Archbishop Murphy High School graduate received a new lease on his NFL life when he was signed to the Atlanta Falcons’ 90-man offseason roster Sunday following the team’s rookie minicamp.
Tupou, who graduated from Archbishop Murphy in 2011, is listed on Atlanta’s roster as a defensive lineman.
Tupou received his first shot at the NFL last year after graduating from the University of Washington. He was invited to the Seattle Seahawks’ rookie minicamp an an undrafted free agent, with the intention of converting from defensive tackle to fullback.
Tupou ended up earning a contract, and he spent the entire offseason with Seattle alternating between fullback and defensive line.
Tupou made Seattle’s opening-day roster and appeared in the season-opening 12-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins, getting seven snaps at fullback and three on special teams. He was waived following the game and was not picked up by another NFL team the rest of the season.
