I checked the saltwater at Kayak Point and the freshwater in the lower Stillaguamish River on Saturday afternoon and evening as the tide was rising and didn’t see any pink salmon jumping at all.
Didn’t catch any either.
I did get a couple sea-run cutthroat in the saltwater, which were released.
That made the trip worthwhile, but I was hoping to see a few schools of humpies splashing around.
Also talked with a couple guys heading out at the boat launch off Marine Drive on the Stilly who had spent the morning on the Skagit River to no avail.
They said there were only a couple humpies netted on the river in the area they were fishing.
Doesn’t seem like decent numbers of salmon yet in central and northern Puget Sound.
I hate to hear myself saying this, but a good soaking rain wouldn’t hurt.
It might draw some fish up the Sound and into our rivers.
