Jarrett Not Starting

Dwayne Jarrett is officially not starting for the Trojans, with freshman Vidal Hazelton in the starting lineup along with Patrick Turner and Steve Smith at receiver. It’s good news that Jarrett isn’t starting, but Hazelton and Turner would probably start for most teams in the country.

I’m still awed (and disturbed) by the level of smog here. You don’t really notice it until you’re focusing on something. You can see the Hollywood sign from the press box here, but only barely because of the smog. Just gross.

I’ve scanned the sidelines for celebrities, but no luck so far. Though there is a report that The Fonz himself, Henry Winkler, is on the sidelines. And you can do a lot worse than The Fonz. I did see one of the Wayans brothers in the San Jose Airport on my way back from Tucson last week. Not one of the good Wayans brothers, one of the guys who made that terrible-looking movie where he and his brother play the baby, or something. Does anyone care about this? Probably not, I think the smog is getting to my head and affecting my thinking.

17 minutes to go, the USC marching band is on the field, pretty impressive even if you do get quickly tired of the fight song. And there seems to be a ton of recruits here.
