Tyrone Willingham and a couple of players (like last week, only two, which is much less than a typical monday) met with the media today.
All expressed being down about the loss to Arizona, and all seemed optimistic that things can get better.
Willingham was asked if the latest loss was the lowest point of his time at Washington: “I would say yes. That ballgame stung.”
He opened his press conference saying this:
“I think it’s obvious that the challenge is to find a way to win a football game. Stanford will be a challenge. And that challenge will be as much in ourselves as our opponent. Trying to figure out a way to do just enough things right to put us over the top. We’ve been close, we’ve been doing a lot of good things, but obviously not enough to put us over the top, so we’ve got to get that done, and that’s my job to put us in a position to do that.”
There are no major changes on the depth chart. Byron Davenport, who was benched after being beaten deep on back-to-back plays is listed as a starting cornerback.
Linebacker Donald Butler and receiver Quintin Daniels, who both have knee injuries, are not likely to be ready to play this week, Willingham said. Louis Rankin apparenlty suffered a hand injury late in the Arizona loss, but should be ok.
If you missed it, here’s our coverage of the Arizona game, including a column that ran today and a bunch of stuff from Sunday’s paper.
