Mountlake Terrace graduate Downs goes to Vikings in Round 7

Devante Downs, a linebacker for the University of California, was taken with the 225th overall pick.

The Minnesota Vikings selected former Mountlake Terrace High School standout Devante Downs in the seventh round of the NFL draft on Saturday.

Downs, a 6-foot-3, 245-pound linebacker from the University of California, was the 225th player chosen.

Downs appeared in the Golden Bears’ first seven games last season before being sidelined with a right knee injury. He still finished second on the team in tackles with 65, and had three sacks and two interceptions.
