State Football Playoffs

Losers out, winners to quarterfinals

3A

Eastside Catholic 37, Monroe 6

SAMMAMISH — The third-seeded Crusaders (9-1) rolled to the state quarter-finals with a comfortable win over the 14th-seeded Bearcats (9-2). Monroe’s high-powered offense, which had posted over 40 points in four consecutive games, was shut down by a tough Eastside Catholic defense to bring the season to a close. The Crusaders will host Lincoln next week for a spot in the state semifinals.

Bellevue 24, Stanwood 14

BELLEVUE — The Spartans (6-5) fell to the top-seeded Wolverines (10-0). The elimination comes after Stanwood stormed into the state playoffs by winning four straight games — including district playoffs — to earn a 16-seed. Bellevue will advance to face Kennewick next week in the state quarterfinals.

4A

Lake Stevens 52, Mead 49

LAKE STEVENS — The sixth-seeded Vikings (8-3) needed every bit of their eighth 50-point game of the season to escape an opening-round thriller over the 11th-seeded Panthers (9-2). Lake Stevens will play Chiawana on the road in the state quarterfinals at 1:00 p.m. Nov. 23.

Arlington 42, Graham-Kapowsin 6

ARLINGTON — Arlington (10-1) continued their strong season with a dominant win over Graham-Kapowsin (7-4). The Eagles will have arguably their hardest test yet when they travel to face top-seeded Camas in the quarterfinals next week, with the date and time to be determined.

2A

Archbishop Murphy 31, Orting 0

EVERETT — The fifth-seeded Wildcats (9-1) shut out the Cardinals (9-2) to advance in the state playoffs. Archbishop Murphy will have a quarterfinal test ahead of them, however, as they travel to play the only team they have lost to this season in Lynden at 2 p.m. Nov. 23 at Ferndale High School.

1A

Life Christian 46, King’s 41

LAKEWOOD — The seventh-seeded Eagles (9-1) outlasted the 10th-seeded Knights (7-3) to advance. Life Christian will play at Seton Catholic next week in the quarterfinals.
