MUKILTEO — The Eagles (2-10 overall, 1-5 league) rode a three-hit, 12-K game from pitcher Peyton Aanstad to an upset win over the Knights (9-4, 4-2). After taking a first-inning lead on a steal of home from Kylie Nuyen (3-for-4, RBI, run), Arlington held Kamiak scoreless for the game’s first four innings. Synclair Mawudeku (1-for-3, RBI) doubled in the fifth to even the contest at a run apiece. Nuyen got involved once again in the sixth, this time singling to bring home Camryn Zodrow (1-for-2, run) for what ended up being the deciding Eagles run.
Glacier Peak 1, Lake Stevens 0 (10)
LAKE STEVENS — A true pitcher’s duel from league rivals Glacier Peak (12-2, 7-0) and Lake Stevens (8-8, 2-5) saw both teams go scoreless for nine entire innings. Grizzlies pitcher Emma Hishorn struck out 13 and allowed five hits against 34 hitters in nine innings pitched, while Charli Pugmire of Lake Stevens had 10 Ks to three hits in 10 innings pitched. The Grizzlies would score the win on a 3-for-31 day thanks to an error that brought placed runner Sammie Christensen (0-for-4, run) home from second base. McKenna Richer (1-for-3, 2B) doubled in a 5-for-33 outing for Lake Stevens.
Northwest
Sedro-Woolley 15, Lakewood 0 (6)
ARLINGTON — The Cougars (4-7, 4-4) lost to the first-place Cubs, who went 14-for-28 and had five extra-base hits. Lakewood’s bats went 3-for-17, as Katie Krueger, Cassidy Wolfe and Nikki Blodgett all went 1-for-2 for the Cougars.
Non-league
Granite Falls 13, Sultan 0 (5)
SULTAN — The Tigers (6-5) dominated every aspect of their non-league meeting with the Turks (5-4), going 17-for-31 while pitcher Bella Frye allowed one hit to eight Ks in five innings. Natalie Klepper (3-for-3, 2 2B, RBI, 3 runs) and Anacely Syson (1-for-2, 4 SB, RBI, 3 runs) led the offense as five Tigers scored twice or more. Karolee Gaylor (3-for-4, 3 RBI, run) brought in the most runners of any Tiger while the Turks went 1-for-19.
Issaquah 7, Jackson 4
MILL CREEK — A late push by the Timberwolves (6-9) came up short as Issaquah’s offense found timely hits, including a third-inning grand slam, all afternoon. Allie Thomsen had a tough showing on the mound but went 3-for-4 at the plate and homered in the seventh to finish with a run and two RBI.
