SPOKANE — The Everett Silvertips can’t seem to win the close ones.

Everett dropped another one-goal decision Saturday night, falling 3-2 to the Spokane Chiefs.

The Tips have had six one-goal games in their 12 contests this season. Everett has dropped all six, coming away with just two points for shootout losses in the process.

Everett, playing its first of nine consecutive road games, had a 2-0 advantage in the first period, but was unable to hold the lead.

Steve Kuhn, Liam Stewart and Dominik Uher scored the goals for Spokane (7-2-0-1), which outshot Everett 43-22. Mac Engel made 20 saves to earn the win in goal for the Chiefs, who won their sixth straight.

Ryan Harrison and Jordyn Boyd scored for Everett (2-8-0-2), which dropped its third straight. Austin Lotz, making just his second career WHL start, stopped 40 shots in goal for the Tips. Lotz has logged 90 saves in his two starts.

Everett got off to a dream start, grabbing a 2-0 lead within six minutes of the opening puck drop. Harrison, making his return to the lineup after missing a game with a lower-body injury, spun and shot, surprising Engel to open the scoring at 4:30. Then just 1:13 later it was 2-0, Boyd scoring his first career goal on a rebound.

Spokane cut the lead to one at 9:52. During a delayed penalty, Kuhn put home a rebound after Brenden Kichton drove the net, making it 2-1.

The Chiefs then surged ahead in the second. First, Stewart tied it at 3:09, batting the puck in from out of the air when Corbin Baldwin’s shot from the point was deflected upward. Then Uher gave the Chiefs the lead at 16:44, stuffing the puck past Lotz at the post after the Chiefs won a faceoff.

The Chiefs continued to control play in the third period, but Lotz kept the Tips in it, and Everett had its chances near the end. However, Vladimir Dolnik fired wide on a three-on-one feed, and Cody Fowlie couldn’t quite get a shot off on a rebound attempt in front.
