Vote for The Herald’s Athlete of the Month for January 2020

Below are the candidates for The Herald’s Prep Athlete of the Month for January 2020. They were the winners of the four athlete-of-the-week polls during the month. The balloting for the athlete of the month closes at midnight Monday.

Sydney VanNess | Shorecrest | Girls Basktball (Dec. 30-5)

VanNess, a senior guard, scored 26 points in the Scots’ 46-44 victory over Bishop Blanchet on Dec. 30

Issac Poole | Shorewood | Diving (Jan. 6-12)

Poole, a senior, won the diving competition at the Kentridge Invitational on Jan. 11 at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way. He set a meet record with 517.9 points, topping the previous meet record by 23.55 points.

Bryan Bunyatipanon | Edmonds-Woodway | Basketball (Jan. 13-19)

Bunyatipanon, a senior guard, drilled a game-winning 3-point field goal at the buzzer in the Warriors’ 60-57 come-from-behind victory over Marysville Getchell on Jan. 17. Bunyatipanon also hit the game-tying 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. He finished the contest with 19 points and four steals.

Meadow Hart | Jackson | Bowling (Jan. 20-26)

Hart, a senior, rolled games of 164 and 172 for a 336 series to lead the Timberwolves to a 3-0 sweep of Burlington-Edison in a Wesco match Jan. 21 at Bowlero Lanes.
