Vote for The Herald’s Prep Athlete of the Week for Jan. 19-25

The Athlete of the Week nominees for Jan. 19-25. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Wednesday’s paper.

Joseph Davis | Marysville Pilchuck boys wrestling

Davis needed only 1 minute, 19 seconds total to dominate three matches on his way to winning the 157-pound weight class at the 2025 Marysville Premier. He saved his best for the championship match, pinning Woodinville’s Darsh Shenoy in 18 seconds. Davis won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week for Jan. 12-18 by claiming 309 (36.1%) of the 856 votes.

This week’s nominees

Tessa Anastasi | Lake Stevens girls basketball

Anastasi blocked Glacier Peak’s late game-tying 3-point shot attempt and hit five 3-point baskets on her way to 22 points and eight rebounds on Jan. 24. She also chipped in 11 points against Kamiak on Jan. 22.

Zia-Daye Anderson | Kamiak girls basketball

The junior scored 28 points in a win over Arlington on Jan. 24 and also recorded 21 points against Lake Stevens on Jan. 22.

Owen Collins | Snohomish boys swimming

Collins swam a state meet qualifying time of 58.96 seconds to win the 100 breaststroke in a meet against Glacier Peak, Marysville Getchell and Marysville Pilchuck. Collins also won the 100 freestyle and participated on Snohomish’s winning 400-meter freestyle relay team.

Audrielle McLean | Tulalip Heritage girls basketball

The senior scored 31 points against Cedar Park Christian (Lynnwood) on Jan. 24.

Ever Yamada | Edmonds-Woodway boys wrestling

Yamada won the 175-pound weight class with an 8-5 decision at the Bobb Bellot Classic on Jan. 25 at Montclair High School in Montclair, Calif. Yamada reached the final by pinning three opponents and beating another by a 15-0 technical fall.
