Lee stayed perfect this season with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Shorewood. Lee won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week for Sept. 22-28 by claiming 219 (49.44%) of the 443 votes.
This week’s nominees
Jackson Fawcett | Snohomish | Boys Tennis
The freshman helped the Panthers stay perfect by sweeping two No. 1 singles matches last week. He dropped only two games, winning by scores of 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2.
Sydney Garner | Monroe | Girls Soccer
Sydney Garner, a senior team captain, helped lead Monroe to a pair of victories by scoring the winning goal against both Stanwood and Everett. Garner compiled five goals for the week, including four against Stanwood in a 4-3 victory as well as the Bearcats’ lone goal vs. Everett in 1-0 final.
Ava Nowak | Glacier Peak | Volleyball
The senior outside hitter helped the Grizzlies stay perfect with 33 kills two Wesco 4A wins last week. Nowak recorded 25 kills and seven digs in a victory over Arlington, and also registered eight kills in a sweep of Cascade.
Jeslyn Vuong | Mountlake Terrace | Girls Swimming
The senior swam a state meet qualifying time of 24.63 second in the 50-yard freestyle and also won the 100 freestyle in a meet against Kamiak and Shorecrest.
