Archbishop Murphy graduates honored during commencement

The 67 members of the class of 2005 from Archbishop Murphy High School received their diplomas and tossed their mortarboard caps high at their graduation ceremony Tuesday, June 7.

Class valedictorian is Ben Snyder and salutatorian is John Feltner. The speaker at commencement, chosen by the graduates, was English teacher Matt Wright.

The school’s annual awards assembly was held on May 25, during which the graduates received many scholarships and awards.

Kat Taylor received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Kevin McGuiness and Matt Rutherford were awarded U.S. Air Force ROTC scholarships.

Chris Mitchell and Michelle Linscott received U. S. Army Scholar Athlete Awards.

National Merit Finalists Mark de Chadenedes, Katherine Robinson, Peter Sadowski and Ben Synder were recognized, and National Merit Scholarships were presented to Mark de Chadenedes and Peter Sadowski.

Ben Snyder was recognized as the Top Male Scholar and Katherine Robinson as the Top Female Scholar.

Jana Zitnik won the Snohomish County Board of Women’s Basketball Officials scholarship.

Michelle Linscott and Tony Slater were presented the Louise and Don Hopkins scholarship.

Scholar Athlete Awards were presented to Laura Biascoechea, Amanda Clancy, Christopher Danford, John Feltner, Dana Ferguson, Michelle Linscott, Jessica Manry, Renee McCutchen, Kevin McGuiness, Christopher Mitchell, Brenna Rice, Katherine Robinson, Peter Sadowski, Natalie Schmidt, Benjamin Snyder, Michael Sutton, Kyla Thompson, Kelsey Weddle and Jana Zitnik.

Scholarships were presented by the Everett Rotary Club to Matt Rutherford, Michael Sutton and Peter Sadowski.

The Diane Schimpf Memorial Scholarship was presented by the Mill Creek Rotary Club to Amanda Clancy and the Mill Creek Rotary Scholarship was awarded to Katherine Robinson.

Laura Biascoechea received the South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary Club scholarship

Washington State Honors Awards were given to Laura Biascoechea, Mark de Chadenedes, John Feltner, Dana Ferguson, James Geier, Danielle Hageman, Corry Haines, Adam Harwell, John Huggins, Michelle Linscott, Katherine Lundberg, Jessica Manry, Renee McCutchan, Kevin McGuiness, Chris Mitchell, James Peck, Katherine Robinson, Matthew Rutherford, Peter Sadowski, Ben Snyder, Michael Sutton, Kelsey Weddle and Jana Zitnik.

Several awards were presented to underclassmen at the assembly:

The Holy Cross Award for freshmen was presented to Emma Nelson.

The Holy Cross Award for sophomores was presented to Kathryn Bloom.

The Holy Cross Award for juniors was presented to Justin Ryan.

The Chet Wilkerson Leadership Award was presented to Rachel Krell and Woody Amidon.

The recipients of the Don and Millie DeMers Endowment Scholarships are kept confidential, but Don and Millie DeMers were honored at the assembly with a special plaque.
