Edmonds rolls out the red carpet May 20 for the Third Thursday Art Walk, hosted every month by the city’s downtown merchants.
A special feature of this month’s art walk is a sneak preview of music to be performed at the fourth annual Jazz Connection, scheduled for May 29. Several locations will host performers, sell tickets, and provide other information about this annual event.
Start the Art Walk at the fountain at 5th and Main and look for the rainbow spinners. Maps are available at all participating locations.
At Joan Longstaff and Associates at 524 Main to for the first taste of the evening’s live performances. While there, check out the portraits of famous people and drawings of wildlife by Edmonds artist Michael Regan.
Across the street at Aria Studio Gallery, owners/ artists Joan Archer and Denise Cole can be observed in action, along with their latest works. Memory Lane hosts the juxtaposition and layering of the watercolors of Darlene Lucas.
The next stop on the walk is Sound Styles, hosting Judy Bjorback and Caroline Blocker and their mosaic furniture, followed by Garden Gear featuring the finely-crafted jewelry of owner Lili Hall. Olives Gourmet Foods shows the work of Sid Carden, a transplant from Great Britain. A teacher in the Shoreline school district, she teaches at an alternative middle school she helped create.
On the south side of the fountain along 5th, visit Arista Wine Cellars to see lush vineyard scenes painted by Edmonds artist Dana Durasof. C’est la Vie presents the acrylic and mixed media paintings of local teacher and artist Amy Pleasant. The botanical drawings of Wenatchee apples by Sarah Im are on view at Akadea. Edmonds Bookshop highlights the gemstone and wire jewelry of Teresa Dickey. Coldwell Banker hosts the abstract works of Pat Andrus.
At the Dayton Place building, visit Gallery North to watch a group of artists in action. Brian Boettcher will demonstrate his acrylic painting style, while Susan Alvard will reveal her fine basketweaving techniques and Jean Owens shows her unique boxes. Gallagher’s Where-U-Brew highlights the architectural photography of Gail Benefield.
Back on Main Street, Kindred Circle hosts a dual show featuring Sue Robertson and Janet Wold in an exhibit called “Joyful Symbols.” Salon Pena hosts well-known Edmonds artist Sue Coccia with the Native American inspired art of her EarthArt International. Next door at Main Street Gallery, artist Jennifer Bowman will be on hand along with her nature inspired work, which has been honored by appearing on this year’s poster for the Edmonds Arts Festival as well as the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.
