The Seattle Women’s Field Hockey Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary next weekend.

Events include a dinner at the Walker-Ames Room on the University of Washington campus Sept. 13 and a series of exhibition games starting at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 at Edmonds Stadium.

The club was founded in 1953 by UW alumnae and in its heyday played in a league with matches every weekend in Ellensburg, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland and Eugene. Today, the club plays mostly in tournaments in British Columbia, California and Georgia.

Members range in age from 15 to 55 and play on a weekly basis at Edmonds Stadium. For information about joining the Seattle Women’s Field Hockey Club, e-mail Ishbel Dickens at ishbel_dickens@hotmail.com.
