The menu at Saw Mill Cafe in Mill Creek Town Center boasts that it’s “never too late for breakfast.” And the Saw Mill certainly makes having breakfast for lunch worth your while.
Open since earlier this fall, the Saw Mill Cafe is the latest in a chain of locally-owned cafes. Other locations are in Redmond, Issaquah, Woodinville, and Bothell’s Crystal Creek Cafe.
The Saw Mill is not only another addition to the dining options available in Mill Creek Town Center, it is also the newest cafe in the Mill Creek area that serves breakfast. But the Saw Mill is more than just a breakfast place. A full menu of sandwiches and dinner options are available.
The interior is clean and comfortable, done up to resemble a mountain cabin. It is also bright and airy, with high ceilings and a large picture window on the restaurant’s north side that gives a view of Town Center’s parking lot and other shops. Guests can sit at a booth, table or a counter by the main entrance.
As for the menu, it’s very affordable. Most of the breakfast and lunch items, such as sandwiches, cost between $7 and $11. The dinner menu, while limited, is reasonably priced, with entrees costing between $11 and $16.
But the specialty of the house is breakfast, and it’s those items that take up the bulk of the menu space. And it’s a wide selection. You name it, and if it’s an American classic, you can probably find it on the breakfast menu.
I opted for an item called BOB – two eggs, prepared any way you like, two biscuits and two sausage patties drenched in sausage gravy and garnished with shredded cheddar cheese ($8.79). As for what BOB is supposed to stand for, I didn’t ask. It just sounded like the ultimate in comfort food.
And comfort food it was – warm, tasty, filled with an old standby and loaded with calories guaranteed to weigh you down for more than a few hours. I washed it down with a strawberry lemonade ($2.49) that had pieces of strawberry in it, and even came with a free refill — a must when eating a huge breakfast that will keep you from eating lunch or dinner because you are already full.
