Bus schedule error spoils fireworks for some
The city of Everett’s Fourth of July web page stated the last Everett Transit shuttle would leave the station to the viewing area at 9:45 p.m. But another page on the city’s website indicated the last bus would leave at 9:25 p.m.
One person told The Herald in an email that he arrived at the station at 9:40 p.m. and then waited until 10 p.m. for the last bus with 30 to 40 others, at which point he gave up and went home.
City spokeswoman Meghan Pembroke said the 9:45 p.m. posted time was an error, and that all other city communications specified a 9:25 p.m. final bus.
“We definitely apologize for any confusion,” Pembroke said.
Everett Transit, she added, “is already talking about what to fix for next year.”
Everett Transit reported ferrying 7,000 riders to see the fireworks show Friday.
