The city of Arlington plans crime prevention meetings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct 1. at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd, and at the same time on Oct. 2 at the City Council chambers, 110 E. Third Street.

Classic cars and hot rods: The annual Snohomish Classic Car &Hot Rod Display is set for 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The free event is scheduled to take place in downtown Snohomish. It has grown in the past 32 years from eight cars to as many as 650 vehicles, according to to the Snohomish Chamber of Commerce, which uses the event as a fundraiser.

Press-ing matters: John Hamer, a co-founder and executive director of the Washington News Council, will speak about the media industry at 7 p.m. Thursday in a free event hosted by the Camano Island Library Friends. It will be held in the library located at 848 N. Sunrise Blvd. (Terry’s Corner).
The news council, which aimed to hold media publicly accountable for accuracy, fairness and ethics, operated for 15 years before closing in June.
